Portrait of a man by RitaFosterArt Portrait of a man by RitaFosterArt
Haven't drawn a portrait in a while and it has always been my first love so I had to do it. I think it's 14X18 inches and is on light blue mi-teintes paper.

I am glad you commented, I was worried it was TOO white and flattened the image in a way but perhaps the subtlety is what helps the emotion shine through. Thank you for that.

Thank you I'm actually really glad to hear that because it has always been kind of difficult for me to draw hair. Perhaps all of this practice is finally paying off!

i love when it is easy to call a man beautiful, because it is a word i think that suits them well far more often than we ever use it. this piece shows that side of masculinity.

great use of stroke direction vs. texture to create depth and shape. i love the choice of blue as a mid tone, and how you executed it. i also think your portrait adds something to the original shot - i feel a level of empathy and connection that is on a different level to the original.

The male figure is probably the most beautiful thing on this earth. Thanks for commenting, those things are really good for me to hear.

Thank you, there was a lot of laying involved with the white. I had a bit of trouble in the beginning so that's nice to hear.

Thanks, I was a little worried about using too much white in the beginning but now that I've stepped back from it I think there's a sort of balance between that and the blue. I wonder how red and white on blue would be?
